[AYSO253] Spring Picture Schedule Posted

Susan,

I agree ? the timing is bad. Fortunately, we have been able to secure  
a back-up date of April 5th for the teams who are simply not able to  
have pictures this weekend. Our lesson learned is to book the  
photographer earlier so we get first choice of dates  ? and that is  
something we can plan for next year.

I do want you to know however that this date for spring pictures has  
been published on the website for the last month and was shared at  
both the coach?s and parent?s meetings held in January and February.  
Unfortunately, both of those meetings were poorly attended. The  
schedule for pictures was posted Thursday night, but the fact that  
picture day is tomorrow was posted much earlier. I am so sorry that  
there are coaches and parents who are unaware that pictures are  
tomorrow and we welcome your ideas about how to improve communication  
in our region. In the meantime, I encourage everyone to check the  
website (www.ayso253.org) often as we update it regularly with news  
about our region. There is also a calendar page that we update as new  
dates are scheduled. We have also implemented this mailing list so  
people can share their ideas and receive information as soon as it is  
available.

I really appreciate your feedback and now I would like to ask for your  
help to improve the situation. We could really use more volunteers for  
our region ? specifically board members. We are also in need of more  
referees, as most of our board members also referee several games each  
Saturday. As you can imagine, running an AYSO region is a very  
difficult and time consuming job, and it takes a lot of people. I am  
sure you know that all of our coaches, assistant coaches, referees,  
team parents, and board members are volunteers. We do this because we  
believe it is a worthwhile activity for our children. We simply need  
more people. We have lots of room for improvement and we would love to  
make some changes, but we need the support of people like you to make  
that happen.

If you would like to help, I invite you to volunteer for a board  
position. In this case, a Special Events Coordinator would have been  
wonderful to have. There are regions in our area with 20+ board  
members. We currently have 7. You can view job descriptions for some  
of the board positions at  
http://www.ayso253.org/VolunteerDescriptions.htm. We have monthly  
board meetings, usually at the VC Recreation Commission. Our next  
meeting is scheduled for April 20th. These meetings are always posted  
on the calendar page of the website and parents are encouraged to  
attend.

about ways we can all help support this AYSO region. Please feel free

Whomever scheduled pictures for the Saturday before Easter during  
Spring Break should be fired.  Seriously.  And then waiting until 2  
days before to let us know?  Get it together, people.  I spoke with  
one parent tonight who had yet to be contacted by her coach, which  
tells me that at least one coach doesn't know about pictures.

Extremely poor planning.  I expected more.
