Hello!
As many of you noticed yesterday, we are in need of more people to
step up and volunteer to help out in our region. Most noticeably, we
need referees to help with the games in our region. The refs that we
currently have are simply not able to meet the need for refs in our
region. You can help by distributing the attached flyer WHY I CAN'T BE
A REFEREE to other parents on your team.
We also need additional Board members to help oversee the management
for the region. We currently need a Regional Referee Administrator, a
Fields Coordinator, a Risk Management/Safety Director, and a Regional
Secretary.
A description of these positions can be found at
http://www.ayso253.org/VolunteerDescriptions.htm[1] . Board meetings
are on the third Sunday of each month at 4 pm.
You can direct anyone interested in helping out to contact the new
AYSO 253 Hotline numbers (303-7819 or 303-4957) or to the Volunteer
Information page on our website www.ayso253.org[2] for more
information. IT IS VITAL THAT WE GET MORE PEOPLE TO STEP UP TO HELP
AYSO REGION 253 CONTINUE TO OPERATE. PLEASE STRESS THIS TO THE OTHER
PARENTS ON YOUR TEAM. IF YOU HAVE A SUGGESTION TO HELP RECRUIT MORE
VOLUNTEERS, PLEASE CONTACT A BOARD MEMBER THROUGH OUR WEBSITE OR VIA
THIS MAILING LIST. WE ARE ACTIVELY SEEKING OUT IDEAS TO ENCOURAGE MORE
PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO PARTICIPATE IN REGION 253.
In addition, there are a couple of reminders that we need to spread
the word about.
1. PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED at the fields during games or practices.
Please help others on your team remember this rule. It is for the
safety of our children and will be enforced.
2. SPECTATORS ARE TO SIT IN THE DESIGNATED SPECTATOR AREAS. In
general, spectators will sit on one side of the field and coaches and
players will sit on the opposite side of the field. Coaches and/or
referees will ask spectators who sit on the wrong side of the field to
move to the designated spectator area.
3. Please encourage all of the parents on your team to VISIT THE
REGION 253'S WEBSITE, www.ayso253.org[3] for information. This
website is updated regularly with information about the region. Also,
encourage others to SIGN UP FOR THE MAILING LIST. This can be done
athttp://ayso253.org/mailman/listinfo/ayso253_ayso253.org[4] . This
link is also available on the front page of the Region 253 website as
well.
4. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. COACHES, PARENTS AND
SPECTATORS ARE NOT TO ARGUE WITH THE REFEREES DURING THE GAME.
Referees are to be treated with respect at all times. Keep in mind
that ALL referees are VOLUNTEERS. They do not get paid to give their
time and effort to ensure that all the children have a fun soccer
experience.
5. Coaches, if you have recruited an Assistant Coach or a Team
Parent, they MUST have a VOLUNTEER FORM COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED OR
THEY WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER AYSO INSURANCE. This is for their
safety and protection. Volunteers can sign up at www.eayso.org[5] or
contact a board member for a volunteer application. ALL applications
MUST be turned in to the CVPA or Regional Commissioner before the
insurance will apply, even if the application was completed via
eAYSO.If you are already a Region 253 volunteer, thanks for
volunteering this season! We could not do this without you!
